Childrearing Resources
I fully accept that I am of the generation that has a deep addiction to social media and instant gratification. A few years ago, on my nannying journey, I made a very deliberate decision to utilize my social media as a learning tool and a way to network online. Sounds like a "duh!" moment, but it truly changed the game for me. I no longer feel like I spend time doom-scrolling or endlessly comparing myself to the fabricated lives projected on social media, but now I feel inspired by other caregivers, parents, and creators. My nanny families can attest to the enhancement of my cooking abilities, as I draw much inspiration from the many digital chefs posting. Through this journey of curating my feed to invoke positive feelings when I reach for my phone, I've read more physical books from recommendations online, created absolutely mouth-watering dishes, and done more research to learn more about the information consumed in small bites.
Beyond the scroll and spoon, while having the honor of helping to raise and care for others, I have become an avid podcast listener. As a person with ADHD, it's helpful for me (during the quiet times of my day) to pop in an earbud and plug away. I always have some type of birth education or nanny podcast playing throughout my day during naptimes.
Here are just a few of my favorite articles, books, podcasts, and social media creators that really made an impact as I navigated (and still navigate) being the very best version of the informed and always learning caregiver that I strive to be.
